Your first visit

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Not sure what a first PT appointment is like? Here's exactly how your initial visit at 805 works, so you can walk in knowing what to expect. The short version: a full hour one-on-one with Sandy, focused entirely on understanding you and building a plan.

Before you arrive

  • No referral needed — in California you can start PT directly. See our direct-access guide.
  • Wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
  • Bring anything relevant — imaging, surgical reports, or a list of what you've already tried.

Your initial evaluation (about an hour)

Your first visit starts with a conversation, not a clipboard. Sandy begins with an in-depth interview to understand your goals, your history, and what you want to get back to. From there:

  • A full physical exam — posture, movement, strength, mobility, and specific tests for your issue
  • Hands-on assessment to find the root of the problem, not just the symptom
  • An introduction to treatment, so you leave having already started
  • A clear plan and recommendations for your comeback

What makes it different

A full hour, one-on-one with Sandy — no techs, no aides, no being passed around. Because the visit isn't built around insurance limits, the focus is entirely on you and what will actually move you forward.

After your visit

You'll leave understanding what's going on, what the plan is, and what's next. Because 805 is cash-pay and out-of-network, you'll receive a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. More in our cash-pay guide.
